A MAR physical tag requires an active Llamas MAR subscription. You can subscribe without buying a tag, but a tag cannot be bought without the subscription — the subscription connects the tag’s printed MAR ID to MAR’s lost/found recovery service. For everyday recordkeeping you open MAR on your phone and enter the MAR ID; the tag QR/NFC is only for public lost/found recovery if your llama is found.
Every llama gets 3 printable QR codes
Emergency QR
For EMS, Fire and Police. Shows the animal types, counts, locations, safety and emergency contacts you approve — for your door, window, barn or gate.
Caregiver QR
Shares selected care information — feeding, medications, allergies, vet and instructions — with sitters, staff, family or trusted caregivers. Switch it on or off anytime.
Individual Llama QR
Each llama has its own QR linked to its complete living MAR record. People see only the information you choose to share.
You get all 3 printable QR codes with every record — even if you do not buy a physical tag. Print at home, laminate, and test with your phone.
How the MAR tag works Lost / found recovery
- A finder scans the QR code or taps NFC on the MAR tag and opens FOUND AN ANIMAL?
- They enter the MAR ID number printed on the tag and tap FIND ANIMAL.
- A valid lookup sends you an email alert right away, and they see the contact details you approved.
Just scanning the tag does not alert you or identify your animal — only a valid MAR ID entered on FOUND AN ANIMAL? does. MAR tags are not GPS trackers.
You work on records in MAR Not by scanning the tag
- Open MAR on your phone.
- Enter your llama’s MAR ID.
- Open the llama’s record.
- Update the information and tap SAVE — then enter the next MAR ID.
Built for ranch hands in the field
- Each tagged llama has a visible MAR ID right on the ear.
- Ranch hands open MAR on their phone, enter the MAR ID and update records in real time.
- Record treatments, vaccinations, breeding, weights, births and more — then go straight to the next MAR ID.
- No signal? Changes save on the phone as “Pending to Sync” and upload automatically later.
- No tag? You can still keep a complete MAR record — your hands just won’t have the MAR ID on the animal for quick identification.
- Have a big herd? Import it from Excel or CSV — existing farm IDs are kept.
FIND YOUR LLAMA
Opening a MAR ID in your account never sends a found-animal alert.
